ABALONE, also known as Ear Shell, is found in warm tropical waters off the coasts of California, South America, Japan and China. This shell is commonly used for decorative purposes in jewellery. Some American Indians use the shell to hold spirit offering such as tobacco and blue corn. It also makes a great holder for burning sage, sweetgrass and cedar. Abalone may be helpful to build and protect the heart muscle as well as aid the digestion.
